Arun Khetarpal is a name that will always be remembered for the country. Only a soldier can sacrifice his life for the country at the age of just 21. In the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal killed the country’s enemies with his tank and was martyred at such a young age. Twenty-one (21) is not just a number but a symbol of sacrifice which every youth of the country should have.

In his short military career of 6 months, he made the supreme sacrifice for the country.

Arun Khetarpal started his military career on 13 June 1971, and on 16 December 1971, he was posted to 17 Poona Horse under the command of 47th Infantry Brigade in the Indo-Pakistani War. During the conflict, the 47th Brigade was stationed in the Shakgarh sector. He made the supreme sacrifice for the country in a short service period of just six months.

He was martyred at the age when one should pass college.

At the age of 21, when common people do not even pass out from college, Arun Khetarpal passed out from Lieutenant Banker Sainik Academy and had such a spirit of patriotism that he left the Pakistani enemies stunned.

120 Bahadur is based on another Param Vir Chakra winner

Farhna Akhtar’s upcoming film “120 Bahadur” is based on another ultimate Chakra winner named “Major Shaitan Singh”. The name whose army squad, numbering only 120, fought till the death of 3000 Chinese soldiers and was the hero of the 1962 India-China war.

120 Bahadur is a film based on the life of Major Shaian Singh Bharti, who displayed indomitable courage, sacrificing his life for his country and fighting the enemy until his death for the sake of his soldiers. He was badly wounded while moving from one post to another without any protection, but he refused to surrender to the Chinese enemies.

Sacrificed his life for the country at the age of 37.

Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was an officer in the Indian Army. He was born on 1 December 1924 in Bansar village of Phalodi district of Rajasthan into a Rajput family and held the rank of major in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. He was part of the Naga Hills Operation and the 1961 annexation of Goa. In 1962, he was martyred while leading only 120 surviving soldiers of his Charlie Company.
